Josef Macherhammer

In 2012, Josef earned his Master's degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from the Technical University of Graz and joined AVL as a Development Engineer specializing in exhaust aftertreatment.
In 2015, he relocated to England to consult for Perkins Engines, helping to define the next generation of aftertreatment systems. Upon returning to Austria, Josef became the AVL Technical Expert for exhaust aftertreatment, focusing on large engine applications.
In 2019, Josef transitioned to the role of Global Sales Administration Manager at AVL, where he assisted the executive board, entered new markets, and managed key customer relationships.
Since 2021, Josef has been working as a Product Manager for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell at AVL. In this role, he analyzes the global market situation, defines and introduces products for various applications, and manages R&D activities across business divisions.
In 2024, Josef extended the AVL portfolio as Product Manager for Hydrogen and Industrial Energy, focusing additionally on non-mobility applications such as electrolysis and synthesis for hydrogen and e-fuel production.
