Saranya Rameshkumar

Research Scientist, Trinity College Dublin
Saranya Rameshkumar is presently a research fellow in CRANN institute, School of Physics, Trinity College Dublin (TCD). She was awarded PhD in 2016 for her dissertation on the topic “Performance evaluation of nanomaterials incorporated mixed matrix membranes” with the main focus on improving membrane performance for recovering value-added components from industrial effluents. Saranya’s field of expertise is in the area of material science and design of membrane separation processes for waste valorisation and sustainable energy applications. In 2021, her team GREEN CLEAN has also secured concept stage award from Science Foundation Ireland for the project on recycling mixed plastic waste. Recently in Dec 2024, she and her co-PI, Dr. Manasa Hegde has secured an award under the New Foundations Scheme funded by Research Ireland on the inter-disciplinary research project on 'Membranes for biomethane recovery and capturing carbon emissions'. She has gained nearly 10 years of research experience on developing polymeric nanocomposite membranes; bench-scale membrane process for water and gas filtration applications. She has published more than 15 articles in the international peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters.
