Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Ulrike Beyer has been head of Referenzfabrik.H2. at the Fraunhofer
Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology. The focus of her activities is on the coordination
and conceptual design of new production solutions for the industrial mass production of hydrogen
systems: electrolyzer and fuel cell. The objective is to intensify the topic of hydrogen not only in
terms of climate policy, but also in terms of sustainable value creation and thus support the energy
transition.
In this field of action, she created and coordinates for the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft the National
Action Plan for Fuel Cell Production funded by the BmDV. She also initiated and manages the
Fraunhofer FRHY Reference Factory for High-Rate Electrolyser Production as a component of the
BmBF lead project H2GIGA. She also developed and launched the two Hydrogen Tryout Area project,
which supports of the BmUV sustainable hydrogen-based energy supply in South Africa and Namibia.
In her private life, she focuses on the realization of climate-neutral bicycle expeditions with her
family to potential or already established hydrogen regions in Europe.
